Royal Holloway School of Management

University of London

MBA in International Management - Full-time or Part-time

Learning Experience

The MBA in International Management has been designed as a Master’s degree which will equip you with the practical knowledge you will need to succeed in a career in international management. Much effort has been put into developing courses that will provide students with first rate theoretical and practical skills

THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

The University has developed a robust set of learning materials to ensure that you have access to a top quality learning experience. The following are crucial to this approach.

Student handbook: The handbook is designed to guide you through the MBA programme and provides information on:

  • Study timetable.
  • Course structure.
  • Academic team
  • Examinations.
  • Administration.
  • Regulations.

Assignments: Assignments are a key element in the learning experience.

For each course this will consist of a 3,000-word assignment. These will include case study-based and business-related assignments to give a range of challenges for you to tackle. In addition, there will be two business-related integrative group assignments over the MBA programme involving groups of five to six people.

Support and service standards:

You will have access to the academic team in their normal surgery hours and to an individual tutor. Contact points will include individual academics and a central administration fax/phone/e-mail address.

Study experience: The full-time taught programme uses a mix of contact experiences to build upon the material covered in the study guides, including lectures and workshops.

These run for a maximum of 11 weeks during the Autumn and Spring terms. Group projects are also a key feature of the MBA programme.

You will undertake one group project per term, the first focusing on business planning and new product development; the second case study-based and featuring an assignment on strategy.

Management development: The Management Development Programme is a very important part of the Royal Holloway MBA programme and will help you develop practical skills – both to assist in your studies and for application in the working environment. These workshops focus on personal development related to communication, business statistics, information technology, team and project leadership and management, and basic business finance awareness.

In addition, the University offers a Business Masterclass, a series of four two-hour seminars per year featuring presentations from business leaders and other guest speakers.

A study workshop will cover International Business research and end with a diagnostic test. Integrative case studies are also included in the programme to integrate the functional areas of study covered in the six core courses.
